NATIONAL PARCS OF AUSTRALIA...

There are more than 3000 protected areas in Australia, with a lot of reserves and sanctuaries on about 40 millions of km2. On the 540 national parks, 13 are World Heritage Areas, under protection of Unesco.

The most famous of the Australian parks, there are Kakadu, Uluru-Kata Tjuta, Blue Mountains, Wet Tropics, Shark Bay, the Great Barrier Reef and Wilsons Promontory National Parks. The Blue Mountains NP is the nearest park from Sydney, about 90 km from the town.

Wilsons Promontory NP (Vic)

They are all very beautiful and pleasant. Wilsons Promontory or The Prom is only about 250 km from Melbourne. The are many animals, specially the lovely wombats.

Mounts Olgas is in the park of Uluru-Kata Tjuta. These monoliths are smaller than Uluru, and you can walk between them. They are about 450 km from Alice Spring. It's far, but you have to see them!
